How To Care For Your Wooden Furniture

Some Useful Facts
Natural wood furniture
Wood grows as a natural material. It contains irregularities and variations of finish. These hallmarks of nature manifest themselves in all sorts of ways .
They are regarded as normal and part of the beauty of real wood. Here are some common ones. Discrepancies of colour and shade matching: The pattern and fnish vary in natural wood. This is what distinguishes it from imitation wood-effects. When our furniture is produced it is not matched–every piece is different but, like our showroom furniture, it blends together organically and will, with time, harmonise. We do not
accept variation in wood grain or colour as a justified complaint. Indentures and imperfections: These are where wood has been marked
and includes small blips, which are normally darker, and are regular characteristics of the wood, which we display in our showroom.
Irregularities of at some time during its growth grain, colour, surface feel and texture are all part of a genuine wood

Solid wood furniture
The nature of solid wood means that some movement of timber can be expected. Normally this is not unreasonable. You can feel the unevenness, and
in some cases see it with the naked eye, where the wood opens. Central heating and climate will affect how the wood moves. It is not considered a
fault but an inherent feature of solid wood furniture

Maintenance and care of wood
Any spills should be removed immediately with a soft damp cloth. Tablecloths can hold moisture, so we do not recommend
their use. Never put hot dishes or plant pots directly onto a surface. A quality table mat gives reasonable protection. Wipe
regularly with a very slightly damp cloth. This will help keep the surface free of dust and dirt, which can cause damage. Do not
use polish, as it can leave a sticky residue, which shows fnger prints and looks blotchy. We sell wood oils, which may beneft
your furniture. Please contact us for further information. Natural wood fnishes are particularly sensitive to all forms of light.
This will gently mellow the colour. For this reason, in the early days of ownership, it is recommended that you move surface
objects regularly to help avoid marking, and rotate hidden leaves to mellow colour evenly. Take care when moving furniture.
Never drag the pieces across the ?oor as this can cause damage to the joints.
Never use household cleaning products; they could damage the surface
Avoid dragging things across the tabletop as this may scratch the surface
Tables are for indoor use only
